At the edge of the night, blooms a Rose the color of blood...
This is the image that will be the focus for my new Annaliese Evans website! I love it so much I can barely keep myself from screwing my word making for the day and jumping right into website design. The VERY talented Malcolm McClinton is the artist. You can check out more of his work at his blog: http://hangedmanstudio.blogspot.com/
So who are these people? From left to right, we have Gareth the half vampire, Rose, the real sleeping beauty and ogre slayer, and Ambrose, Rose's liaison among the Fey de la Nuit (faeries of the night). These are the three main characters in my "Night's Rose" Series. The first book "Night's Rose" will be a February 2009 release, but if you line up early for the Tor/Forge publisher signing in San Francisco you might just snap up an advanced reader copy! (There won't be many of them, hence the lining up early part.)
Whee! I'm so so psyched. So psyched I must share early blurbage (this is still in the honing stage, but it will give you an idea what the first book is about. I'm finding it very hard to sum up a 110k book in fifty words or less, but hopefully my brilliant editor, Heather Osborn, will work her blurbish magic upon my lame attempts).
"Night's Rose" Book One of the "Night's Rose" Trilogy by Annaliese Evans
The predator becomes the prey...
For nearly one hundred years, Rosemarie Edenberg has served the black fairies, working tirelessly to wipe the ogre tribe from the earth. But now, the tribe has gathered in London to work a spell that will destroy the scourge of their kind, the woman they call the Briar Rose, the rose of many thorns.
Rose suddenly finds her friends are her foes, the supernatural Ton has turned against her, and creatures with not a trace of ogre blood wish for her death.
Two magnetic men will unite to aid her cause--her Fey advisor, Ambrose, and the vampire, Lord Shenley, an earl of scandalous reputation and even more scandalous appetites. One will deliver her, one will betray her, and both will challenge her to face her past.
Once, she walked the mists of enchantment, a young girl cursed to sleep one hundred years. But this beauty was not awakened with a kiss, and has never known happily ever after. With the help of her allies, she may find it yet, but first she must discover the truth behind her own curse before the past destroys not only her life, but the entire city of London.
